I think the recipe calls for equal parts piss and vinegar.
I bought the Gadd vid w/ VC playing Nite Sprite and during the end section of the song I thought VC was dragging a bit. I mgiht have to watch it again, but after listening to the original recently, the tempo and balls of the original tune was absent. Too much fiddling and not enough grooving.
Maybe like w/ deJohnette, it takes repeated listenings of VC's parts to get a feel for the concepts in the music.
Drumming's a young man's game and watching Vinnie go for it on the Joan Rivers show, full of piss and vinegar, displays that. I've got a bootleg video of him at the Potato in 2000 with the camera set up on his right: sometimes Vinnie's not even playing with both hands.
And 'Hail No' I don't think Vinnie's going downhill but everytime I put on a Vinnie disk it's pre-Sting.
Derek summed it up perfectly: Vinnie doesn't record the kind of music he enjoys that much any more. Precisely! I don't get the same shivers down my spine listening to SheDaisy as I do Joe's Garage.

THat would make sense cuz Buddy was full of piss and vinegar, so was Tony, with more of both.
But they were not playing crap pop music or being forced to hang with a pompous preening douchebag like Sting.

That guy is an incredible music writing talent as well as someone who has contributed alot to his fellow man. He also happens to be a musician that recognises and uses alot of quality drummers.
I don't know or care what you claim to fame is....but I guarantee you aren't qualified to lace that guys shoes when it comes to musical talent.
It's not like Sting's worrying about what other folks think as he's sitting around in one of his many real estate empires [castle in England; numerous homes & condos all over the globe]...I guarantee the expenses alone paid on these places would make many a common man extremely wealthy several times over...but he prob also buys & sells some of these & makes his $ work for him too. He prob even has his own mini-real estate & rental/time-share business empire goin' on...
But he might still be a "popmpous arse"...but then again, he might not...I don't know him...& he's not beating my door down to get to me either... [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Well... just got home from a very nice dinner with Brian Bromberg and his wife lisa. Tom his engineer was there too. Had a great time BS'ing and stuff. Brian showed me his new addition to the studio, it's really gonna be nice when he gets it done. Now its pretty huge!!
Talked about the Jeff Berlin recording at Brian's studio with Vinnie a week or so ago, these were Brians exact words..........
"If it wasn't because of who Vinnie is, and what he does/the way he plays, it would have never worked out or sounded the way it did. He's just amazing. He recorded all 9 tunes in two days, playing some of the most complex stuff I've seen, and he nailed it with no mistakes."
Brian said the CD will be 1st released in Japan around June, and then should hit the U.S. around August. Brian's going for promo pictures tomorrow for his new CD with Vince and Waldman. That one should be out pretty soon. Was there for that recording. You guys will love that one!!
They're currently mixing the tracks, so I should have a pre-production copy of it in a couple of weeks. I'll let you guys know what it sounds like, maybe post a snippet or two to get a taste??
I guess Vince will be back in May recording at Brians for some chick singer. Brian mentioned her name, I don't remember it right now off the top of my head.
